Atlast I am in my 10th post and I have a simple sweet for all of you this time. Seera, is one of my favourite dessert. In my childhood this was my all time favourite and one of my Vellimma's (mom's sister) special. I always think how she makes it ,it used to melt in mouth. This is also a "Prasadam" for "Sathya Narayana Pooja" at Temple. We kids used to go again and again for this "Prasadam". One day I stumbled on here and made it, to my surprise I was able to recreate my vellimma's special dessert.
Ingredients:
butter - 1stick/ 1/2 cup
sooji/rava/semolina - 1cup
sugar - 1 1/2 cup
raisins/dry grapes - 10counts
cashews - 10 counts
water - 21/2 cups
Directions:
In a wide pan, melt butter and fry the raisins and cashews. When the raisins pop up and the cashews change the color slightly, add sooji and fry till you get a nice aroma and the sooji slightly changes the color. Add sugar and mix well. Lower the flame to medium low and add water to this .Stir with a spatula simuntaneously as you do not want any lumps to be formed.Be very careful ,as the water will splutter off the pan and you can get burns.Add the desired color to make the dish colorful.
I made it yellow ,you can make it orange too. Some may like it without color.Stir well,so that the color gets incorporated very well. Transfer and spread the mixture to a wide plate and keep aside. After its cool you can cut into desired shape and serve.Enjoy!!!
