Ingredients:
- Parboiled rice /Matta rice - 3 cup
- cooked rice - 1/2 cup
- water - 1 cup
- grated coconut - 1 cup
- salt to taste
- Wash the rice 4- 5 times and soak the paraboiled rice overnight.
- Drain all the water from the rice and keep aside.
- In a mixer add the drained rice little by little and grind till the rice cracks into two or little bit more. Do not grind the rice into fine powder.
- Keep the grinded rice in a big vessel.
- Now grind the cooked rice adding little water to fine paste.
- Add the rice paste to the grinded rice powder.Add salt to taste and grated coconut.
- Mix everything with hand ,so as to make a dough. Add water as needed accordingly.
- Make balls from the dough and steam it in a steam cooker.(I usually make it in my rice cooker as I have a stand to keep inside it.)
- Serve warm with red coconut chutney,varathuaracha kadala curry or meen made day before (Thale diwasam undakiya meen curry).
