Unda/ Kozhakkatta

                                                    



Ingredients:
  • Parboiled rice /Matta rice  - 3 cup
  • cooked rice - 1/2 cup
  • water - 1 cup
  • grated coconut - 1 cup
  • salt to taste
Directions:
  • Wash the rice 4- 5 times and soak the paraboiled rice overnight.
  • Drain all the water from the rice and keep aside.
  • In a mixer add the drained rice little by little and grind  till the rice cracks into two or little bit more. Do not grind the rice into fine powder.
  • Keep the grinded rice in a big vessel.
  • Now grind the cooked rice adding little water to fine paste.
  • Add the rice paste to the grinded rice powder.Add salt to taste and grated coconut.
  • Mix everything with hand ,so as to make a dough. Add water as needed accordingly.
  • Make balls from the dough and steam it in a steam cooker.(I usually make it in my rice cooker as I have a stand to keep inside it.)
  • Serve warm with red coconut chutney,varathuaracha kadala curry or meen made day before (Thale diwasam undakiya meen curry).
