Baked Batura

Friday evenings are always special.Thats the day I try new dishes.Here is a new receipe for everyone which was a real hit.




Baked Batura
(Adapted from Sanjeevkapoor's cookbook)

Ingredients
All purpose flour - 4cups
(If you are really conscious take 2 cups of wheat flour and 2 cups of maida)
Yeast - 2tsp
Milk-1/4 cup
Water - 1/2 cup
Curd/plain yogurt -1/2 cup
Salt - to taste
Sugar -1tsp


Method
  • Preheat oven to 400F.
  • Sieve the flour into a large mixing bowl.
  • Add yeast to 1/4cup of warm water and keep aside to be frothy.
  • Add the frothy yeast to the flour along with salt and sugar.
  • Stir well with spatula/spoon.
  • Add milk and curd to the flour and make a smooth dough.
  • Keep in a warm place covered with a damp cloth till the dough doubles in volume.
  • Divide the dough into small balls.
  • Roll each balls into small circular discs with a rolling pin.
  • Keep the disc on a cookie sheet/use aluminium foil.
  • Bake for 10 minutes.
  • With a spatula turn over the batura.The batura's really puffs up.
  • Serve warm with choley/chicken curry.
Note: Always serve the batura warm, cold baturas are crunchy .
Donot have left over batura next day.If having soak the batura in curry and have it.
