Baked Batura
(Adapted from Sanjeevkapoor's cookbook)
Ingredients
All purpose flour - 4cups
(If you are really conscious take 2 cups of wheat flour and 2 cups of maida)
Yeast - 2tsp
Milk-1/4 cup
Water - 1/2 cup
Curd/plain yogurt -1/2 cup
Salt - to taste
Sugar -1tsp
Method
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- Sieve the flour into a large mixing bowl.
- Add yeast to 1/4cup of warm water and keep aside to be frothy.
- Add the frothy yeast to the flour along with salt and sugar.
- Stir well with spatula/spoon.
- Add milk and curd to the flour and make a smooth dough.
- Keep in a warm place covered with a damp cloth till the dough doubles in volume.
- Divide the dough into small balls.
- Roll each balls into small circular discs with a rolling pin.
- Keep the disc on a cookie sheet/use aluminium foil.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- With a spatula turn over the batura.The batura's really puffs up.
- Serve warm with choley/chicken curry.
Donot have left over batura next day.If having soak the batura in curry and have it.
