Spinach dal

My  sister's classmate A introduced me to this dish.  Its an easy n simple curry that goes well with rice n chappathi. You can watch the video here .


Spinach dal
(Sanjeev kapoor receipe)
Ingredients
Dal/parippu - 3/4 cup
Onion - 1 medium chopped
ginger- 1inch piece chopped
garlic- 6-8 cloves chopped
spinach - 15-20 leaves chopped
green chilly - 2 chopped finely
jeerakam/jeera  -1 tsp
turmeric - 1/2tip
hing or kayam -  2-3pinch
water - 1cup
salt to taste
lemon juice -1tsp

Method
Pressure cook parippu/dal till soft.
Heat 2tbsp of oil/butter in a pan.
Chop 15-20 spinach leaves and keep aside.
When the oil is steaming add jeerakam, garlic,  ginger  and greenchilly (you can add more according to your spice level)  .Saute for a minute and add chopped onion and saute until onions become light brown. At this point add the chopped spinach and saute  for half a minute.Add turmeric and hing/kayam stir well.Now add the cooked parippu/dal and mix well.Add 1 cup water and salt to taste .Allow the curry to boil and add lemon juice just before serving.
